she didn’t do it out of the goodness of her heart, nor to protect the frightened and horrified new yorkers within the vicinity. she simply happened to be there. some creature she’s never encountered, who made the mistake of striding right into her crime scene in its chosen path to wreak havoc in. it had taken her all of six seconds to immobilize it — ( fast enough to spare the lives of a few hundred, but not without it leaving a complete wreckage of the entire city block and some first ).
psi stops on her tracks as soon as she senses his impending presence, drops both stolen money bags on either side of her feet before turning back around. her head tilts, curious eyes vigilant, and smirk tugging at her lips as she takes one, two steps toward the famous iron man.

it is both an answer to his question and a warning of sorts — enough for the time being. after all, he hasn’t established himself as a threat. yet.
peter knows he needs to be more careful. he knows that at some point his luck will run out and he’ll end up as dead as he should have been years ago. he lets her settle into his arms, closing his eyes as if to appreciate this moment they have together even if she is mad at him. “you’re not gonna lose me.” a promise. “i know i’m not gonna live forever, but i’m not going anywhere. you’re stuck with me.”
and she wouldn’t have it any other way. psi allows herself to relax in his arms — something she’s still not quite used to doing, ( though her aversion to physical affection has been waning lately — she thinks he’s entirely to blame for that ). “unfortunately.” she huffs, lines creasing her forehead.
the way nia is looking at the other woman can be described as nothing but just pure kindness. she feels for psi, she really does. she can’t imagine how horrible it must be to be locked up day in and day out, powerless, bored. ❛ do they ever let you out ?— are you alone all day ? ❜
❛ not today, it seems. ❜ her head tilts as she approaches the glass that separated them, gaze remaining fixed on the woman keeping her company, ( pretty, she thinks. and the kindness in her eyes is unsettling — psi isn’t sure what to make of it ). ❛ letting the type of prisoners they keep here out could potentially be quite catastrophic, i’d imagine, that’s why they don’t do it. ❜
she knows it’s not fair that she knows exactly how alex feels – despite her words, despite her uncertainty, psi feels the wave of emotions surging through her ex-girlfriend in the same intensity, and it’s enough to give her the confidence she wouldn’t have otherwise. “more important than you?” her smile is soft, eyes filled with regret and longing for the only woman she’s ever loved.
“there’s no such thing.” a pause, and she gauges the other woman, “is that too much?” perhaps it is, but it’s also the truth. after alex, she’d built walls around herself, ones that she’d thought to be impenetrable until she found herself faced to face with her. “i didn’t think i’d ever see you again.”
please keep in mind that psi is a villain. she is a psychic and an extremely powerful one at that. she uses telepathy and telekenisis. her empathy cannot be shut off. she is also mentally and emotionally unstable. she won't need a reason to attack your muse, she doesn't have to be pushed to do so and she will if she pleases. given that it's her nature, it would be tiresome for me to individually ask everyone i write with to allow her to use her powers. therefore, if you choose to enter into a thread with her, i will assume that's permission for psi to use her powers on your muse. this includes reading your character's mind, picking up on their emotions, etc, potentially hurting them.

my portrayal of gayle/psi is canon divergent. it is a balance i have created based on dctv and comics. not entirely one or the other. it is my own interpretation based on elements of what is known about her. please be mindful of this.

Psi is psionic, meaning she possesses psychic and mental abilities including but not limited to:

PERSONALITY/DISPOSITION
As Gayle, she is quiet, shy and generally does not fit in well with others. She is sensitive and emotionally fragile. Because of her empathy, she constantly feels what others around her are feeling. She also tends to conform to other people's expectations of her.
As Psi, she generally experiences the same emotions, which is why she is extremely reluctant to kill despite wreaking havoc. Aware of the extent of her capabilities, she tends to be arrogant and appears calm and blasé when confronted. Deep down, she is still the same lonely girl, only masked by her tough and confident exterior.
BIOGRAPHY
Gayle’s psionic powers began to manifest at the age of twelve. Prior to that, she had a pretty regular childhood.
After discovering what she’s capable of, her parents brought her to an institute that specialized in studying extra sensory phenomena where she was supposed to stay in for a month. But her parents died in a road accident during that time. One of the doctors, Dr. Pendergast, petitioned the court to make him her legal guardian.
Dr. Pendergast was always more interested in Gayle’s powers than he was with her. He treated her well, helped her develop her powers but only so he could use and manipulate her. Something that she would only realize later on.
Gayle was twenty when she left the place she could never call home. She took a regular job, supported herself and started living on her own. For a while, she was able to lead a somewhat normal life until her powers proved too much for her to handle and she snapped, quit her job and started going on a robbing spree.
MISCELLANEOUS
While her empathy allows her to understand others, it is extremely difficult for Gayle to form genuine relationships because her power is so strong that she’s generally unable to properly block other people’s emotions. Gayle tends to feel what others feel as her own, therefore making it hard and at times impossible for her to discern which ones are truly hers.
Gayle has never been able to maintain a proper long term relationship. This stems from her general mistrust of the people around her, as well as her anxiety and the added difficulty that being an empath contributes to becoming close to someone else.
